Who we are

We're a small team that got tired of choosing between a shoebox of paperwork and a subscription database we didn't control. KennelOS started as one breeder's own record keeping and turned into the app we wished had existed — built around how a breeding program actually works, not how a generic CRM thinks it should.

We're not venture funded and we're not trying to become a marketplace, a registry, or a social network for dogs. We make a record keeper. We'd like it to be the best one, and to still be here in ten years.

What we believe

Your records are yours. Not "yours, hosted by us." Everything you type lives in your own browser storage, on your own device, and the app works completely without us. If you turn on our optional cloud backup, we keep a copy of your kennel records so a lost phone isn't a lost program. Your contacts' phone numbers, emails and addresses, prices, finances, contracts and private notes never leave your device readable: they stay there, or, if you turn on private backup, they're encrypted on your device with a key we never have. Turn either off or delete it any time.

Software should work when the internet doesn't. Whelping boxes, kennels and barns have terrible signal. After the first load, KennelOS runs entirely offline — no spinner, no "reconnecting", no lost entry.

A free tier should be genuinely useful. Lite isn't a countdown to a sales call. It's the same app with a size limit, and a small program can run on it indefinitely without paying us anything.

You should be able to leave. Export a complete JSON backup or CSV files any day, for any reason — including the day you decide to use something else. Lock-in is a business model, not a feature.

Say the honest thing. Data on one device is only as safe as that device — so we say so, we make export a first-class feature, we offer a free cloud backup of your kennel records, and we tell you plainly what it doesn't cover.

How it's built

KennelOS is a set of plain web pages that run in your browser; the app you're using is the whole system. The one service behind it is optional: it runs cloud backup, encrypted private backup and, for Pro, the online waitlist families can apply to and check their place on. The app never depends on it: with those off, nothing you type is sent anywhere, and if we ever stopped running it, your app and your records would carry on exactly as before.

The same core powers all three editions: Lite, Pro and the demo. Pro's extra features aren't hidden inside the free download behind a switch — they simply aren't in it. That's a cleaner deal for everyone: free users carry less, paying users get the real thing.

How we're funded

By people buying Pro. That's the entire business model. There are no ads, no sponsorships, no affiliate deals on dog products, and your records are not a product we sell. Most of them we never receive, and the kennel records cloud backup holds are kept only to give back to you. If Pro pays for the work, KennelOS keeps getting better; if it doesn't, we'd rather tell you than start monetising you sideways.

Privacy, in one paragraph

This website has no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies. The apps need no account and send your records nowhere, unless you turn on cloud backup: then we hold your kennel records (your private details only if you turn on private backup, and then encrypted so we can't read them) and a scrambled form of your email address, not the address itself. If you buy Pro, the payment is handled by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, who take your billing details and email you a license key — we never see a card number. If you email us, we have your email. The details are in our privacy policy, and the agreement itself is in our terms of use.
