About

Software for breeders, built the way we'd want ours built

KennelOS is a small, independent product. It exists because pedigrees, health histories and litter records deserve better than a spreadsheet — and because the alternative shouldn't mean handing years of your program to a company that might fold, get bought, or start charging you to read it.

Who we are

We're a small team that got tired of choosing between a shoebox of paperwork and a subscription database we didn't control. KennelOS started as one breeder's own record keeping and turned into the app we wished had existed — built around how a breeding program actually works, not how a generic CRM thinks it should.

We're not venture funded and we're not trying to become a marketplace, a registry, or a social network for dogs. We make a record keeper. We'd like it to be the best one, and to still be here in ten years.

What we believe

Your records are yours. Not "yours, hosted by us." KennelOS has no server, no account system and no copy of your data — everything you type stays in your own browser storage, on your own device. We couldn't read it if we wanted to, and we couldn't leak it in a breach either.

Software should work when the internet doesn't. Whelping boxes, kennels and barns have terrible signal. After the first load, KennelOS runs entirely offline — no spinner, no "reconnecting", no lost entry.

A free tier should be genuinely useful. Lite isn't a countdown to a sales call. It's the same app with a size limit, and a small program can run on it indefinitely without paying us anything.

You should be able to leave. Export a complete JSON backup or CSV files any day, for any reason — including the day you decide to use something else. Lock-in is a business model, not a feature.

Say the honest thing. Data on one device is only as safe as that device — so we say so, we make export a first-class feature, and we nudge you to take backups instead of pretending the trade-off doesn't exist.

How it's built

KennelOS is a set of plain web pages that run in your browser. There's no cloud service behind them, which is exactly why the privacy promise above can be a fact rather than a policy — the app you're using is the whole system.

The same core powers all three editions: Lite, Pro and the demo. Pro's extra features aren't hidden inside the free download behind a switch — they simply aren't in it. That's a cleaner deal for everyone: free users carry less, paying users get the real thing.

How we're funded

By people buying Pro. That's the entire business model. There are no ads, no sponsorships, no affiliate deals on dog products, and your records are not a product we sell — there's nothing to sell, since we never receive them. If Pro pays for the work, KennelOS keeps getting better; if it doesn't, we'd rather tell you than start monetising you sideways.

Privacy, in one paragraph

This website has no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies. The apps have no accounts and send your records nowhere. If you buy Pro, the payment is handled by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, who take your billing details and email you a license key — we never see a card number, and the key is checked against their service, not against a database of your kennel. If you email us, we have your email; that's it.

Get in touch

Questions, bug reports, or a feature your program needs that the app doesn't do yet — we'd like to hear it. Email hello@kennelos.app.

Feature requests from working breeders are how most of this app got decided. If you're keeping records in a way KennelOS makes awkward, that's a bug worth telling us about.

Try it on your own dogs

Lite is free, takes a minute to start, and everything you enter comes with you if you ever move up to Pro.
